COTTAGE EXTENSION - NEWCASTLE-UNDER-LYME

A private client approached Townsend and Renaudon to replace a tired conservatory with a striking, contemporary extension. The brief was to create a spacious, open-plan living area combining kitchen, dining, and a sitting area — all designed to contrast with the traditional character of the existing cottage.

Located within greenbelt land, the project exceeded the typical 30% volume increase rule. We engaged with local planners early in the process and successfully made the case for approval based on the architectural quality and sensitivity of the design.

The final result is a beautifully considered extension, featuring sleek Cedral cladding that contrasts elegantly with the white render of the original cottage — a harmonious blend of old and new, delivering both function and visual impact.
